Six Years & Counting!

Today is our anniversary! Not our “travel anniversary” but the celebration of us being together for 6 years. When we think back on all that we’ve done and how we’ve grown as a couple, it’s hard to believe it’s only been that long.

The cute couple!

We started dating when we were 22 years old. We were really good friends for about 3 years before that, and then on one fateful day driving back to Calgary from Vernon, we were stuck on the highway near Revelstoke. There was a huge mudslide blocking the road. We had to spend the night there and then about 2 more days taking a very long route back to Alberta. After that trip, the spark was lit!

Our first date was an epic one…at the Fairmont Lake Louise, 2007

Our first date was a pretty amazing one. We went to Lake Louise in Alberta and stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, a very old and very beautiful hotel. We hiked and walked around the gorgeous lake and that was it, we were officially a couple on May 27th, 2007.

A couple of crazy kids in Mexico, 2007

Since then, we’ve done so many incredible things together, from going on our very first vacation to Mexico, to camping with friends and family to hiking in the Himalayas in Nepal. We’ve made some unforgettable memories. We laugh, learn and grow together each and every day. We wake up in the morning happy with our lives, and happy to have each other.

There’s no other person I would’ve rather spent the last 6 years with and we’re both so excited to see what the next years have in store for us.

Backpack Review: Osprey Kestrel 32

It’s time to review my current backpack, the Osprey Kestrel 32. Having a backpack that fits properly and is geared towards the activities you’ll be doing is very important when choosing a backpack.
