Travelling from Koh Phangan to Kuala Lumpur

After enjoying all of the awesome things to do in Koh Phangan, it was time to leave. It was a very long travel day getting from Koh Phangan in Thailand to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. We decided that in order for you guys to really understand a typical travel day for Goats On The Road, we should make a video. Check it out!

We took the monorail from downtown area to the bus station, then a bus to the airport. We flew out of Kuala Lumpur on a typical (and maddening) Air Asia flight that departed at 5:30am. Since we needed to be at the airport 3 hours before the flight, we just decided to sleep in the airport, again.

I guess that’s why the flights we always take are on ‘promo’, no one else will buy them because of the departure time! We went to the airport, made ourselves a nice little bed on the floor, and went to sleep around midnight.

At 12:30 an announcement came on that they were going to spray the airport with a “toxic spray” so everyone must leave. Are you kidding me? I bet they do this like once every 2 years or something. We left the airport, sat outside, got no sleep and were allowed back in at 3:30am (hoping that 3 hours was enough time for the toxins to clear out) and were just in time for check-in.

We managed to get a 1/2 hour of sleep after the security check, but that was it. The flight was fine, we slept for a bit and arrived at the Clark Airport about 4 hours later. Clark is outside of the Capital City of Manila (where we wanted to be) so we took a one hour bus ride to our desired destination…another downside of the promo flight!
